What To Wear When Skydiving For The First Time

Skydiving is a great thrill ride if you’ve never tried it before.

It’s both thrilling and ultimately quite peaceful once you’re on your freefall.

It’s something all of us should try when we get the chance.

Though it might seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, we all naturally wonder what we should wear for our first skydive—so here’s some important advice.

You want comfortable, relatively loose-fitting clothing. Active wear is always a good bet, like leggings, yoga pants, or sweatpants. T shirts or long-sleeved t shirts are perfect for your upper body. You’ll want to be comfortable and able to move, but don’t want to risk tangling clothing up.

Keep it simple is the best way to go.

Don’t wear anything with too much embellishment, like hoodies, or very long and very baggy clothing.

Activewear of virtually any kind will do you just fine, just keep it simple and be sure you’re covered.

Let’s look further into this.

Can you wear jeans skydiving?

While you probably can, it’s also not really your best choice.

You’ll be wearing a tight harness, and jeans are more likely to dig into you and be more uncomfortable.

Activewear is your best bet usually, so leggings, track pants, sweatpants, yoga pants, all of these are good options.

Jeans will also severely limit your flexibility.

You’ll want to be able to move your legs around as freely as possible, both for when you are getting into your skydiving gear and when you are falling.

Your legs will want to go up, and you’ll want to make it as easy for them as possible.

They are also almost certainly going to chafe once you are in your harness.

Again, you will be pretty tightly strapped in, and your jeans will feel much less comfortable than some kind of activewear.

If I were you, I would not wear jeans for your first time skydiving or anytime you go skydiving.

Can you wear anything skydiving?

No, you can’t.

You really only want to wear soft, elastic-based clothing that gives you plenty of comfort and flexibility.

You will most likely be given an overall to wear by the skydiving school, so you want to be sure you’re in something that can be comfortably worn under this.

For this reason, you want something between tight and loose, though more towards the loose end.

Something like yoga pants is good, though they might be a bit cold—because they are so tight and thin.

So, relatively loose-fitting sweatpants is probably your best option.

They should definitely be well-fitting, though.

You don’t want to wear anything that’s too big for you, or too small.

Skydiving is, after all, a sport, so well-fitting activewear will give you the best chance of a comfortable and smooth experience.

But for many of us, what’s the point in going skydiving if I can’t take a picture of myself?

And I’m not going to take a picture of myself if I don’t look cute!

How do you look cute when skydiving?

When it comes to clothing, you just want to be sure everything is well-fitting and can go comfortably under the skydiving flight suit.

In most cases, you can’t worry about looking cute in your clothes because they will all be covered up by a one-piece for any picture you take.

So, it all comes down to what your face is doing.

Raising your chin will help to keep you at a good angle, and form the optimal belly-to-earth position.

This will keep your face straight and looking as it normally does, though blown by the 120 mph winds.

The other thing to do is smile!

Engage your face muscles so that your cheeks aren’t just flapping in the wind.

Keep your eyes facing forwards and towards the camera, rather than down, so it doesn’t look like you are scared!

The best advice, though, is not to worry about it—you’ll look great in your pictures no matter what, and at the end of the day, you were falling at high speed out of a plane.

No one can say you didn’t look cute, given the circumstances.

The other question for those of us with long hair is what to do with it during a skydive.

How should you wear your hair when skydiving?

One way or another, you’ll want to keep it tied down.

Tight braids are a good option if you can do braids.

A very low ponytail is another good option, keeping the hair out of your face and tied down. Y

ou can also put it in a low bun.

Alternatively, you can use a bandana to keep it down, and tie it at the bottom.

This ensure there is no hair to get in your face.

So, as long as it is tied one way or another, you should be fine.

Just make sure the knot is low rather than high, as this ensures it stays out of your face.

So, what to wear is ultimately going to be one of the simpler questions when it comes to skydiving.

Just keep it simple, make sure you’re covered as best as you can be, and don’t give anything a chance to get caught or tangled in your skydiving gear.

Don’t wear jeans, and don’t worry too much about looking cute—you’ll be falling through the air at 200mph, after all.
